The camera came first. Working with people became the real craft.

I received my first serious camera, a Minolta X700, the week before my Bar Mitzvah in 1983. I have been behind a camera ever since.

How it started.

The week before my Bar Mitzvah in 1983 I received a Minolta X700. I read the manual from cover to cover. Four years later I was photographing my high school yearbook, and I have not really put the camera down since.

Photography has changed enormously during that time. Film became digital. Darkrooms became computers. Cameras became more sophisticated than I could have imagined when I picked up that Minolta. But one thing has not changed. A successful portrait still depends on the person in front of the camera.

Along the way I earned an MBA in Finance and Management from NYU Stern, ran Spectrum Asset Management and two early-stage venture funds, Premier Ventures and the Israel IT Venture Fund, became a PPA Certified Professional Photographer, and in 2020 was designated a Master of Photography, a degree that requires exhibition merits and service, and that fewer than 200 of PPA’s more than 50,000 photographers earn in a given year.

How I work

Credentials are only part of a successful session.

The technical part matters.

I am a Master Photographer and Certified Professional Photographer through Professional Photographers of America. I care deeply about lighting, composition, and the technical craft of photography. Technical expertise alone, though, does not make someone look good in a photograph.

Clicking with people matters too.

Some clients walk into the studio completely comfortable in front of a camera. Many do not. I enjoy working with both. A successful session means creating an environment where you can relax, giving you clear direction, watching the details, and knowing when the right expression appears.

You see what I see.

That is also why I photograph tethered. You get to see what I see. Together we can refine the photograph until it feels right. You leave knowing the shot, not hoping for it.

I have sat on your side of the table.

NYU Stern MBA in Finance and Management. I ran Spectrum Asset Management and two early-stage venture funds, Premier Ventures and the Israel IT Venture Fund, before photography became the full-time work. When an attorney, a founder, or a broker sits down, we speak the same language, and the portrait is sharper for it.
